​More than 50 per cent of the recipients of the 40th Citizenship Certificate are youth. As the generation that will inherit the country, it is important for the youth in particular and all citizens in general to play a role in leading the country towards the development of noble human capital based on religious values, resilience, trustworthiness and instil excellence for the development of the country. This was touched upon by the Minister of Home Affairs at the 40th Citizenship Certificate Presentation Ceremony. The ceremony took place on 25th April afternoon, at BRIDEX, Jerudong. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman also urged the recipients as well as the community to support and engage in any community activities and programmes, at the village, mukim, district or national level in together building a developed and excellent country.

The Minister of Home Affairs said that youths in particular and the community in general need to maintain the country's good name by avoiding any immoral activities that can bring about disharmony to the country. Instead, youths and all citizens are urged to be involved with programmes and activities organised by the government through the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils.

Over 900 people received the citizenship certificate by the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
